By hand vs at a station
C opens hand recipes anywhere. Everything else needs you to walk to a station and press F. The hand version of a recipe is usually worse: one log splits into one plank by hand and four at a workbench.
Recipes reveal themselves
A recipe stays hidden until you have held its materials. Finding a new material also adds a Journal discovery, so exploring literally lengthens your recipe list. A page like this one can show more than your character can see.
Can make
The crafting menu has a “Can make” toggle that hides anything you cannot afford right now. It reads your pack live, which is why it beats any list on a website.

The first thing you build and the one you come back to most. Stone tools, every handle, bags, bows and animal parts.
Stations
Build cost
Cooking, charcoal and your respawn point. Placed early enough it doubles as the safest place on the map.
Stations
Build cost
The gate between stone and metal. Every ingot in the game passes through one of these.
Stations
Build cost
Masonry in bulk, and the only source of a whetstone — which quietly saves more metal than it costs.
Stations
Build cost
Fiber into cloth without hunting a single animal.
Stations
Build cost
Where metal becomes a tool head. The forging itself is a short minigame with a grade at the end.
Stations
Build cost
Repairs only. It makes nothing, which is why it is easy to skip and expensive to skip for long.
Stations
Build cost
Turns magic flowers into inscriptions, and inscriptions into learned spells.
Every metal head and blade is made at a forge, through a short forging minigame. The only thing that changes between them is how many ingots the head costs — so they are listed here as a matrix rather than as twenty-four rows that say the same thing.
| Metal | axe | pickaxe | sword | spear | hoe | sickle |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 2 | 2 | |
| 2 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 2 | — | |
| 3 | 4 | 4 | — | 3 | — | |
| 2 | 3 | 3 | — | 2 | — | |
| 2 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 2 | — |
A dash means the current build has no head of that kind in that metal. Heads are assembled at a workbench with a handle, and optionally a binding.
